Inspiration
I made this collage because I wanted to update a dragon picture that was on my shower room. I have just about finished writing a blog about it. I will link it to this page when ready!
The collage was made with a mixture of my own photographs, copyright-free images from unsplash and napkins!
During the 90’s when I was a young and regular party goer, I used love the bright art backdrops that used to adorn the walls at underground raves and nightclubs. They were painted with a ‘glow in the dark’ paint so they would glow under the UV lights. I wanted to create a piece of art that would bring back those memories, but something that would look great in the day too.
Process
I picked up this huge second hand piece of MDF for £10. It originally was covered with a piece of fabric with Marilyn Monroe’s face on it. Even though I like Marilyn, the fabric had to come off so I could get on with creating my ‘Rave Backdrop’ inspired art. It was made with a mixture of using glow in the dark paints, papers, mirrors and other knick-knacks found in my studio and around the home. I also drilled holes and thread through some copper LED lights that can be switched on at the back.

“London’s Nightclubs Past To Present” (2013) by Emma Mullender
I would definitely highly recommend Emma. It has been a pleasure from start to finish. Continuous correspondence until my print arrived in record time. High Quality service. The print is beautiful and is taking pride and place in my living room for everyone to see. The art speaks for it self. I love it and will for years to come. Thank you!

Inspiration
In 2013 I decided to take a trip down memory lane and make a collage that paid homage to many of the great nightclubs that once graced our capital. Like thousands of others, I had so many great weekends dancing the night away in these clubs. Sadly most of them no longer exist, so I wanted to create a piece of nostalgic art, for not only myself, but the all the other old ravers out there to reminisce the good old days.
The Process
I created this mixed media collage by combining various visual art media. I used photos that I have taken over the years, and recreated my own versions of nightclub logos, such as ‘Ministry of Sound’, ‘Club UK’ and the iconic ‘Orange Man’ who appeared on many flyers during the 90’s at nights at The Rocket and The Hippodrome.
Added info: I gained permission from the Keith Haring Foundation to use Keith’s two dancing men. I also gained permission from the Kentish Owner to use the ‘Blue Plaque’ images. Both greatly appreciated as they both really enhance the art!
“Best of British” collage (2017) by Emma Mullender
I just received this AMAZING limited edition, signed print from Emma and I’m absolutely stoked!! I’m an expat living in Oz so was a bit nervous about ordering from the UK, but Emma couldn’t have been more helpful. I honestly couldn’t be happier. Such a lovely, heart warming reminder of old Blighty – Thank you Emma!!

I actually was planning on making another music collage with the most iconic ‘Best of British’ bands, but I decided to extend it so it included well known Landmarks, Cuisine and Vehicles that Britain is famous for.
The Process
A multimedia collage made with a mixture of my photos, paints, pens, computer enhanced effects and recreating my own version of well known British logos, This collage took a huge amount of time and work to complete, but am really pleased with the result!
I fell in love with this print the minute I saw it. It looks amazing in the flesh and the paper quality is excellent!

There is a wonderful little ‘Music and Arts’ Festival in Leicestershire called Noisily. It really is a magical place and every time I’ve been I have taken lots of photos of the fantastic light displays they have in the trees and around the festival site. I knew one day I would incorporate these photos in to a collage.
The sun, island in the water, lanterns, crown and wand in the collage have all been made up from the lanterns and funky lights that adorn the festival grounds, and of course, lots of peacock feathers, as they tend to creep in to most things I create!
The Process
A Mixed Media collage made on canvas. Created with photographs, wrapping papers, Japanese print napkins, paints and pens and digital effects. It took a huge amount of cutting and sticking to finish this collage, and i’m really pleased with result.
The original collage has a huge amount of gold on it, which really looks lovely when the sun shines on it.
